Install BobCAD-CAM v23 on Windows 10 and Windows 11

How to install BobCAD v23

NOTE: To ensure success, follow the instructions precisely as documented including using the same folder names and paths.

  1. Obtain your purchased copy of the Longbow Reviver App here (you will need V4.29 or newer)
  2. Copy the contents of your BobCAD CD to your hard drive, to a folder named c:\InstallDisks\bobcadv23
  3. Start the Reviver App
    • Using the “Old Installer Reviver” tab, pick the ‘…’ button to select the c:\InstallDisks\bobcadv23 folder
    • Now click the ‘Fix and Run Old Installer‘ button.
    • The Reviver App may prompt that it cannot find setup.exe, simply select executable that launches the installation setup
    • Once you indicate the setup executable, the Reviver App will fix the setup media and then launch setup. Be patient as the process can take up to 45 minutes to launch the setup sequence.
  4. Once the setup appears, stop and read the next step…
    • You may install as normal, but when you are asked to select the “Setup Type”, pick “Custom“, this is so you can specify a custom installation folder path…
      • For every installation location that refers to c:\Program Files or c:\Program Files(x86), remove that folder from the full path, you **must** change the default path to not include c:\Program Files or c:\Program Files(x86) (see image below) – the path should be changed to C:\BobCAD-CAM\BobCAD-CAM V23
Remove “Program FIles (x86)” so that BobCAD is installed to C:\BobCAD-CAM\BobCAD-CAM V23
  1. Now complete the setup process
    • Repeat the process of removing “Program FIles (x86)” from each of the child setups
    • do not reboot if prompted to do so
    • When asked to install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, say Yes
    • Make sure you fully close setup once complete
  2. Now back in the Reviver App…
    • pick the “Old Program Reviver” tab
    • Using the ‘…’ button pick the C:\BobCAD-CAM\BobCAD-CAM V23 path
    • Set the “Run As” to “None”
    • Now click ‘Fix Old Program
      • When it asks if you want to re-register, say Yes
  3. Once the Reviver App displays “Success!” you will now be able to run your program simply double click the “BobCAD-CAM V23” shortcut

How to install Print Shop Ensemble III

NOTE: To ensure success, follow the instructions precisely as documented including using the same folder names and paths.

  1. Obtain your purchased copy of the Longbow Reviver App here (you will need V4.26 or newer)
  2. Start the Reviver App and note the user interface
  3. Download a slightly rearranged version of the original CD in ZIP format from here
    1. Unzip the PSEWIN_DISK 1 Print Shop Ensemble III.zip directly to the root of your C: Drive – e.g C:\ – note it MUST be C:\ – you should see multiple new folders off of your C:\ as shown below in the image, sort by date to see the ones recently added – don’t worry, you can clear them up all at the end as they are not needed once the install is completed…
  1. Back on the Reviver App, from the “Old Installer Reviver” tab, use the ‘…’ button to select the C:\SETUP32 folder
    • Now click the ‘Fix and Run Old Installer‘ button. The Reviver App will fix the setup media and then launch setup. Be patient as the process can take up to 45 minutes to launch the setup sequence.
  2. Once the setup appears, stop and read the next step
    • Once the setup application appears, enter your information as normal except when you get to the installation folder…
    • You **must** change the default path to c:\pse (see image below)
  1. Now complete the setup process
    1. do not reboot if prompted to do so
    2. Make sure you fully close setup once complete
  2. Now back in the Reviver App…
    1. pick the “Old Program Reviver” tab
    2. Using the ‘…’ button pick the c:\pse path
    • Now click ‘Fix Old Program
      • When it asks if you want to re-register, say Yes
  3. Once the Reviver App displays Success! you will now be able to run your program simply run c:\pse\PSEWIN.exe

    2. now carry on and install as normal
    3. Do not reboot if prompted to do so
  5. Now OmniPage 15 is installed, back in the Longbow Reviver tool
    1. select the 2nd tab “Old Program Reviver
    2. pick the newly installed c:\Scansoft\OmniPage15 folder and click ‘Fix Old Program’
    3. Say ‘No’ if the Reviver tool asks if you want to re-register…
  6. Now you can happily run your OmniPage 15

  5. Now Illustrator is installed. In the Longbow Reviver tool, select the 2nd tab “Old Program Reviver“, pick the newly installed c:\adobe\illustrator 10 folder and click ‘Fix Old Program’
    1. Say ‘No’ if the Reviver tool asks if you want to re-register…
  6. Now you can happily run your Adobe Illustrator 10 on Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10 32bit or 64bit!

Troubleshooting

  • If your setup is not appearing within 1 hour, reboot into Safe Mode and try the same process as above again.

Install Retain Pro 6 on Windows 10

  3. Insert your Retain Pro CD into the CDRom drive, then click back to the Reviver App…
    1. From the “Old Installer Reviver” tab, use the ‘…’ button to pick your Retain Pro CD in the CDRom
    2. Now click the ‘Fix and Run Old Installer‘ button
      1. Follow the instructions for copying the CD
    3. Once the CD is copied the Reviver App will run a process on the copy of the CD, then launch the setup.
      1. Be patient as the process can take up to 45 minutes!
      2. Once the setup appears, stop and read the next step
  4. Once the setup application appears, install as normal except…
    1. When you close setup, Retain Pro will be launched automatically – you must close Retain Pro in order to finish the final step
  5. Once you have closed the setup, Retain Pro will start automatically – close it.
  6. Now back in the Reviver App…
    1. pick the “Old Program Reviver” tab
    2. Using the ‘…’ button pick the c:\RP6 folder
    3. Now click ‘Fix Old Program
      1. When it asks if you want to re-register, say No
  7. Once the Reviver App displays “Success!” you will now be able to run your Retain Pro 6 (run c:\RP6\rp6.exe

Installing Sem Group Xilog Plus 1.1 on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 64bit

It’s totally possible to install Xilog Plus on newer versions of Windows (even Windows 10 64bit) but you will need the appropriate drivers to drive your CNC

How to install Sem Group Xilog Plus

  1. Obtain your purchased copy of the Longbow Reviver App here
  2. Start the Reviver App and note the user interface
  3. Insert your Xilog Plus CD
    1. From the “Old Installer Reviver” tab, use the ‘…’ button to pick the CD
    2. Now click the ‘Fix and Run Old Installer‘ button
      1. Follow the Reviver App instructions
      2. Once the setup appears, stop and read the next step
  4. Once the setup application appears, go through the setup as normal except when you get to select the installation folder (Destination Install Folder)…
    1. You **must** change the default path to c:\xilogplus (instead of C:\Program Files\Scm Group\Xilog Plus)
    2. Also, do not run Xilog Plus at the end of the setup because an extra step is needed to fix the installed program files.
  5. Once the setup is completed
    1. Make sure setup is closed down
    2. Go back to the Reviver App and wait for Success! to be displayed.
    3. In the Reviver App, pick the “Old Program Reviver” tab
    1. Using the ‘…’ button pick the path c:\xilogplus
    2. Now click ‘Fix Old Program
      1. When the Reviver App asks if you want to re-register, say Yes

Installing Qualcomm Eudora 7 on Windows 10

Apparently, a lot of people are still using Eudora 7 but have lots of issues running on Windows 10. Here’s how to easily get Eudora working on Windows 10, simply use our Longbow Reviver tool (for fixing legacy apps on new versions of Windows)

How to install Eudora

  1. Obtain your purchased copy of the Longbow Reviver App here
  2. Start the Reviver App and note the user interface
  3. Insert your Eudora CD (or copy your Eudora_7.exe setup to c:\EudoraCD)
    1. From the “Old Installer Reviver” tab, use the ‘…’ button to pick the CD (or if you copied your Eudora_7.exe setup then pick the c:\EudoraCD folder).
    2. Now click the ‘Fix and Run Old Installer‘ button
      1. Follow the Reviver App instructions
      2. Once the setup appears, stop and read the next step
  4. Once the setup application appears, go through the setup as normal except when you get to select the installation folder (Destination Install Folder)…
    1. You **must** change the default path to c:\eudora (instead of C:\Program Files (x86)\Qualcomm\Eudora)
    2. Also, do not run Eudora at the end of the setup because an extra step is needed to fix the installed program files.
  5. Once the setup is completed
    1. Make sure setup is closed down
    2. Go back to the Reviver App and wait for Success! to be displayed.
    3. In the Reviver App, pick the “Old Program Reviver” tab
    1. Using the ‘…’ button pick the path c:\eudora
    2. Now click ‘Fix Old Program
      1. When the Reviver App asks if you want to re-register, say Yes
  6. Once the Reviver App displays Success! you can run your c:\eudora\eudora.exe happily ever after

      1. When the Reviver App asks if you want to re-register, say Yes
  6. Once the Reviver App displays Success! you can run your c:\orcad9 happily ever after.

    2. Using the “. . .” button, pick the path to the CD
    3. Now click “Fix and Run Old installer”
      1. Follow the on screen prompts…
      2. BE PATIENT – Terrain Navigator Setup may take up to 90 minutes to start, when it does stop and read the next step
  4. Once the Terrain Navigator Pro setup starts up
    1. install as normal except when prompted for the installation path, don’t install to c:\Program Files\Maptech\Terrain Navigator Pro but instead install to
      c:\Maptech\Terrain Navigator Pro as shown below…

Recently, I had problems installing Office 2007 on Windows 10 64bit… The issue was unexplained; Office 2007 setup simply “failed installing PowerPoint” and then just gave up without any error messages. So here’s what I did to solve it:

How to install Office 2007

  1. First step, purchase this tool, the Longbow Reviver here – sorry, it’s not free 🙁
  2. Insert the Microsoft Office CD into your computer
  3. Next, start In the Reviver App
    1. Click on the tab named “Old Program Reviver
    2. Using the “. . .” button, pick the path to the CD
    3. Select “Windows Vista” from the “Run As” dropdown
    4. Now click “Fix Old Program
  4. Once the Reviver tool has completed, run setup.exe from the Microsoft CD to install as normal

  4. In the setup program, navigate through each setup dialog as normal, except when you get to the installation folder…
    1. make sure you update the entry from .C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop CS to c:\Adobe\Photoshop CS
    2. Repeat – You *must* instal to
      c:\Adobe\Photoshop CS
  5. Now carry on with the install…
  6. Once Photoshop is installed…
    1. quit the Adobe setup and go back to the Reviver tool
    2. Select the 2nd tab “Old Program Reviver
    3. using the “…” button pick the newly installed c:\Adobe\Photoshop CS folder and click Fix Old Program.
  7. Now you can happily run your Adobe Photoshop CS and ImageReady CS  on Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10 32bit or 64bit!

A quick word of advice: best to follow the instructions below precisely and to the letter, including folder names and paths, that way you will reduce the risk of having any problems…

  1. Obtain your copy of the Longbow Reviver tool here
  2. Using Windows Explorer, copy your entire Adobe Photoshop 5.0 install CD media to your hard drive, to a folder path c:\InstallCDs\Adobe\Photoshop5
  3. Start the Longbow Reviver tool…
    1. Select the 1st tab “Old Installer Reviver
    2. Using the “…” button, pick the c:\InstallCDs\Adobe\Photoshop5\PHOTOSLE folder
    3. Now click the Fix and Run Old Installer button
    4. Read and understand all the prompts that appear, then continue by clicking OK… (read the next step)
  4. Now, I know it’s unheard of these days, but at this point expect to wait up to 45 to 90 minutes for your Adobe Photoshop 5.0 Limited Edition setup.exe program to appear (be patient!)
    1. Once the Photoshop 5 setup application displays all in Blue, stop and read the next step…
  5. In the setup program, navigate through each setup dialog as normal, except when you get to the installation folder, make sure you update the entry from .\Adobe\Photoshop 5.0 LE (notice the dot at the beginning) to c:\Adobe\Photoshop 5.0 LE 
  6. Now carry on with the install…
    1. Ignore any errors related to not being able to “…create the folder ‘Adobe Photoshop 5′”, you will have to manually create a shortcut on your computer Desktop to your c:\Adobe\Photoshop 5.0 LE\photosle.exe by hand.
    2. Do not reboot if prompted to do so
  7. Once Photoshop is installed
    1. quit the Adobe setup and go back to the Reviver tool
    2. Select the 2nd tab “Old Program Reviver
    3. using the “…” button pick the newly installed c:\Adobe folder and click Fix Old Program.
  8. Finally, create a shortcut on your Desktop which points to c:\Adobe\Photoshop 5.0\photosle.exe
  9. Now you can happily run your Adobe Photoshop 5.0 on Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10 32bit or 64bit!

Unfortunately, WordPerfect 6 is a pure 16bit application which means that it cannot be run on 64bit Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10.

However, it can only run on *32bit* Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10 using the Longbow Reviver app.

Install Word Perfect 6 on Windows

  1. Obtain your copy of the Longbow Reviver tool here – you need version 4.10 or newer
  2. Using Windows Explorer, copy your entire WordPerfect 6 install CD media to your hard drive, to a folder path c:\InstallCDs\WordPerfect6
  3. Start the Longbow Reviver tool
    1. select the 1st tab named “Old Installer Reviver
    2. then using the ‘…’ button pick the  c:\InstallCDs\WordPerfect6\INSTPROG folder
    3. Now click the ‘Fix and Run Old Installer’ button
    4. Read and understand all the prompts that appear, then continue by clicking OK.
    5. Install as normal
    6. Close setup – Do not reboot if prompted to do so
  4. Now WordPerfect 6 is installed
    1. Now go back to the Longbow Reviver app…
    2. select the 2nd tab “Old Program Reviver
    3. using the ‘…’ button pick the newly installed c:\WPWIN60 folder
    4. Set the Run As dropdown to Windows 95

  1. First, you need to purchase a copy of the Longbow Reviver tool here (you need V4.21 or later)
  2. Using Windows Explorer, backup your entire Microsoft Money 2000 installation CD to your hard drive, to a folder path c:\InstallCDs\Microsoft Money 2000
  3. Start the Longbow Reviver tool
    1. select the 1st tab “Old Installer Reviver
    2. then using the ‘…’ button pick the  c:\InstallCDs\Microsoft Money 2000 folder

Run Adobe Acrobat X plugin in 32bit AutoCAD on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 64bit

The Adobe Acrobat X plugin for AutoCAD only runs on 32bit AutoCAD, and 32bit AutoCAD only runs on 32bit Windows. This means that you will be stuck if you require the Adobe Acrobat X plugin for AutoCAD and move to newer hardware with 64bit Windows.

Luckily, the Longbow Reviver tool can solve this, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Obtain your copy of the Longbow Reviver tool here
  2. Backup your Borland Delphi 3 CD to your Desktop, in a “Delphi 3” folder
  3. Next, start the Longbow Reviver tool and select the “Old Installer Reviver” tab
    1. Using the “…” button select the path to the Desktop\Delphi 3\install folder…

    2. Once you have that selected, click OK and then pick the “Fix and Run Old Installer” button.
    3. Now, be patient, the process for initializing the Delphi 3 setup may take over an hour…
      1. Look out for a folder called _ISTMP0.DIR being created in the install folder, if it’s not there in an hour, restart your computer and try again…
      2. The _ISTMP0.DIR should slowly fill with about 21 files before the setup appears.
  4. Once your Delphi 3 setup appears
    1. step through the setup dialogs as normal until you get to the “Select Directories” dialog
    2. Here, make sure you change the Root folder to c:\Borland (instead of c:\Program Files (x86)\Borland)

      e.g.

    3. Make sure they are setup like this…

    4. Now carry on and install as normal until complete
    5. Be patient, it takes a while to complete…
  5. Once the install is complete
    1. make sure the Delphi 3 setup is shutdown.
    2. Go back to the Reviver tool and select the 2nd tab named “Old Program Reviver
    3. Using the ‘…’ button, pick the newly installed c:\Borland folder
    4. Then pick the “Run Old Program” button
  6. Now your Delphi 3 should be up and running…

Installing Rhino 3 (Rhinoceros 3) on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10

Installing your Rhino 3 on Windows 10, Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 32bit or 64bit can be very easily defined in these short steps…

  1. Obtain your copy of the Longbow Reviver tool here – you need version 4.13 or newer
  2. Copy your entire Rhino 3 CD to c:\CDs\Rhino3
  3. Start the Reviver tool
    1. Select the 1st tab named “Old Installer Reviver
    2. Pick the path to the copy of your Rhino CD on your hard drive e.g c:\CDs\Rhino3
    3. Click the “Fix and Run Old Installer” button
      1. Don’t select the “Disable Windows 64bit Device Driver Signing Verification” check box
      2. Read and understand all messages that appear and click OK
      3. d. Now the Rhino 3 setup should start as normal, read the next step before continuing
  4. Once in the Rhino setup, install as normal, except
    1. When prompted for the installation path c:\Program Files (x86)\Rhinoceros 3.0, change it to c:\Rhino3
    2. NOTE: You may have to create the folder by hand using Windows Explorer
    3. Now finish the install
    4. Completely close the setup application
  5. Next, before running Rhino 3
    1. Go back to the Reviver tool
    2. Pick the 2nd tab named “Old Program Reviver
    3. Using the “…” button, select the newly installed c:\Rhino3 path
    4. Click the “Fix Old Program” button
      1. When prompted “Do you want me to re-register your Program’s components?”, say no
  6. Now you can happily run your Rhino 3 on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10!

Installing your CSG V3 for AutoCAD R14 on Windows 10, Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 32bit or 64bit can be very easily defined in these short steps…

  1. Obtain your copy of the Longbow Reviver tool here – you need version 4.10 or newer
  2. Unzip the contents of this zip file CSG Editor V3 for R14 into C:\InstallDisks\CSGR14
  3. Start the Longbow Reviver tool and select the 2nd tab called “Old Program Reviver
    1. Select the path to C:\InstallDisks\CSGR14
    2. Select the ‘Run As” option to Windows 2000
    3. Next, click the ‘Fix and Run Old Installer‘ button.
    4. Read and understand all the prompts before pressing OK. Now, I know it’s unheard of these days, but at this point expect to wait at least 45 minutes for your CSG setup.exe program to appear.
  4. Once the setup starts, stop and read the next step…
    1. If your CSG setup does not start after 45 minutes, read the Troubleshooting section below.
    2. In the setup program, navigate through each setup dialog as normal, except when you get to the installation folder input dialog, **it’s vitally important to make sure you install to your existing AutoCAD R14 folder – install to c:\acadR14 (not c:\Program Files\CSG as usually prompted)**
    3. Now carry on with the install (do not reboot once the install is complete).
      1. Do not reboot if prompted to do so
  5. Once installed, start AutoCAD R14
    1. If CSG doesn’t startup automaticaly, run the APPLOAD command, navigate to c:\acadR14 and load the CSG3.arx
  6. Now you can happily run your CSG V3 in AutoCAD R14 running on Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 32bit or 64bit
Troubleshooting:
  • If your CSG V3 setup is not starting after 45 minutes, try rebooting, then restart the steps above.
    • If it is still failing, most likely it’s because of another application on your system which is preventing our setup routine from starting (perhaps anti-virus, or similar) – try installing CSG from Windows Safe Mode
