Windows 11 comes with a Ransomware Protection which includes Controlled Folder Access. Controlled folder access blocks applications from writing to your Documents, Pictures, Videos, Music, Public and Favorites folders. AutoCAD versions all the way to AutoCAD 2021 write to certain user Public folders and are therefore blocked by this feature. This can cause issues with all sorts of things including activating your AutoCAD license and even running AutoCAD. How to install AutoCAD MDT R4 (2000)

A quick word of advice: please follow the instructions below precisely as documented including using the same folder names and paths. This will significantly reduce the risk of having any problems…

If you don’t yet have a copy of the Longbow Converter App you can purchase it here or click on the download link we sent you via email in order to download the Converter App to your PC.
Before installing the Converter App, make sure the files downloaded from our site are not blocked by Windows SmartScreen… Windows 11 is finicky, click the TLC zip first to make sure it’s fully selected then Right+click the file and select Properties. Be sure to check the Unblock checkbox as shown below and Click OK…
Double click the zip file to open it and install the TLC application as normal. By the way, TLC stands for The Longbow Converter
Start the Longbow Converter tool
1. Insert your AutoCAD CD into your CDRom drive
2. Select the 2nd tab named “Old AutoCAD Installer Reviver“
3. Using the “…” button, pick your AutoCAD CD
4. Click “Run Old Installer”
  1. Read and follow all the prompts
  2. Once the AutoCAD setup starts, stop and read the next step…
In the setup program, navigate through each setup dialog as normal, except when you get to the installation folder, **it’s vitally important to make sure you install to c:\mdt2000 (not .\MDT as usually prompted)**

MDT 4 select the Browse button and update path to c:\mdt2000 $MDT 4 Select Install path to c:\mdt2000$
Now carry on with the install, please read all of the following tips while your installation is running so that you are prepared…
1. Do not reboot once the install is complete.
2. Ignore any errors related to not being able to create the shortcut folder “Mechanical Desktop 4”, you will have to create a shortcut on your computer Desktop pointing to your c:\mdt2000\acad.exe by hand.
3. If you see errors stating errors with objectdbx.z or dao2535.tlb – please reboot your machine and re-do all of the steps above.
4. Once you click “OK” to setup not being able to create your shortcut folder “Mechanical Desktop 4” – setup may now try to install Acrobat Reader 3.01. If this happens, you will see a blue Mechanical Desktop 4 screen with nothing on it, it will sit there for maybe 60 minutes, just let it do its thing and be patient. Eventually, you will see the Acrobat setup appear, install accepting all defaults.
5. When the MDT 4 setup asks if you want to “Install the Mechanical Desktop Migration Assistant” say
Once the setup has completed…
1. 1. Do not reboot if asked to do so
  2. Make sure to fully close the setup program when the installation is complete.
  3. Back in the Converter app and make sure it’s completed the final stage of processing using the “Old AutoCAD Program Reviver” tab and that SUCCESS!! is displayed
Finally, reboot your PC.
1. Now you are ready to run your AutoCAD, simply run c:\mdt2000\acad.exe using Windows Explorer.
If you find that you are running in raw AutoCAD mode, to enable your Mechanical Desktop features, carry out these next steps, either…
1. Add a shortcut (recommended) to c:\mdt2000\acad.exe making sure that the Target Property of the shortcut is set to (including quotes) “C:\mdt2000\acad.exe” /p “C:\mdt2000\desktop\desktop.arg” and the Start In Property is set to the same path as the .arg file e.g.
  Creating a shortcut to Mechanical R4 making sure the Startin property points to where the .arg file resides
  1. For the Power Packs use a new shortcut with the Target set to either
    1. “C:\mdt2000\acad.exe” /p “C:\mdt2000\acadm\mdtpp.arg”
    2. “C:\mdt2000\acad.exe” /p “C:\mdt2000\acadm\acadmpp.arg”
      …with both Shortcut Start In: properties set to and the C:\mdt2000\acadm
2. or update your AutoCAD support path by hand…
  1. At the AutoCAD Command line, type the command ‘Preferences’, add new Support path folders c:\mdt2000\acadm and then also c:\mdt2000\acadm\support, now click ‘Apply’ and then ‘OK’ out of the dialog.
  2. Next, restart AutoCAD.
  3. When you are back in AutoCAD, type ‘Menuload’ at the command line, click browse, then navigate to C:\mdt2000\acadm\support, change the file filter at the bottom to *.mnu, then open acadm.mnu, finally click Load, then pick Close.
  4. Now restart AutoCAD
Now you can happily run your Autodesk Mechanical Desktop 4 – but we do recommend you install the following Service Packs…

Installing AutoCAD 2000 Service Pack 1

Obtain AutoCAD 2000 sp1
Unzip your newly downloaded sp to folder path c:\Autodesk\sp
Start the Converter, select the 2nd tab named “Old AutoCAD Installer Reviver“,
1. pick the c:\Autodesk\sp\AutoCAD 2000 sp1 folder and click ‘Run Old Installer’
Wait for the setup to appear, it could take up to 45 minutes, then install as normal

1. pick the c:\Autodesk\sp\AutoCAD 2000 sp4 folder and click ‘Run Old Installer’

Troubleshooting

If your MDT R4 (AutoCAD 2000) setup is not starting after 45 minutes
- try rebooting, then restart the steps above. If it is still failing, most likely it’s because of another application on your system which is preventing our setup routine from starting (perhaps anti-virus, or similar) – try installing AutoCAD 2000 from Windows Safe Mode
Plotting – if you are having plotting issues, either
- Install the AutoCAD 2000 plotupdate patch
If you are getting a WinHelp() error when pressing F1 to try and access the Help system then simply install the WinHelp (WinHlp32.exe) module from Microsoft

Follow these instructions to solve issues around installing/running your legacy AutoCAD LDT 2002 on Windows 11. It requires the purchase of our Longbow Converter App which provides the framework to allow your old AutoCAD to install and run natively on Windows 11.

NOTE: We currently only support US unlocked versions of 2002 on 64bit OS. European or locked US support 2002 is limited only to 32bit Windows 11.

Ransomware Protection Windows 11 and AutoCAD

Just before we start note that Windows 11 comes with a Ransomware Protection which includes Controlled Folder Access. 3. Once the AutoCAD setup starts, stop and read the next step
In the setup program, navigate through each setup dialog as normal, except when you get to the installation folder **it’s vitally important to make sure you install to c:\ldt2002 (not Program Files (x86)\Autodesk Land Desktop 3 as usually prompted by default)**
1. Now carry on with the install as usual
2. Do not reboot if asked to do so
Once installed…
1. Be sure to completely close the setup application
2. Now go back to the Converter app and make sure it’s completed the final stage of processing using the “Old AutoCAD Program Reviver” tab, it should say “SUCCESS!!”
3. Finally, reboot your PC and run your AutoCAD as normal
Now you can happily run your LDT 2002!

Installing LDT 3 Service Packs

You must first install sp1, followed by sp2…

LDT 3 sp1 – software lock/unlocked with html documentation

LDT 3 sp2 – software lock/unlocked with html documentation

Unzip the sp1 into a folder called c:\Autodesk\LDT3 sp1
Next, start the Converter, select the 3rd tab “Old AutoCAD Program Reviver” select the c:\Autodesk\LDT3 sp1 folder, then click Fix.
1. If asked if this is a service pack by the Converter tool, say yes.
Now run the sp1 as you need from Windows Explorer.
Repeat for sp2

Installing Civil Design 3

Using the Longbow Converter solution, you can also install the Civil Design add-on to LDT 3.

Using Windows Explorer, copy your entire Civil Design 3 CD to your hard drive, to a folder path c:\Autodesk\ldt2002 – Civil Design 3
Start the Longbow Converter tool, select the 2nd tab, pick the c:\Autodesk\ldt2002 – Civil Design 3 folder, and click Run. Read and understand all the prompts before pressing OK. Once the setup starts, stop and read the next step…
In the setup program, navigate through each setup dialog as normal
Now your Civil Design 3 is up and running with LDT.

Installing Survey 3

Using the Longbow Converter solution, you can also install the Survey add-on to LDT 3.

Using Windows Explorer, copy your entire Survey 3 CD to your hard drive, to a folder path c:\Autodesk\ldt2002 – Survey 3
Start the Longbow Converter tool, select the 2nd tab, pick the c:\Autodesk\ldt2002 – Survey 3 folder, and click Run. Read and understand all the prompts before pressing OK. Once the setup starts, stop and read the next step…

Installing Raster Design 3

  3. Now onto the setup…
2. When you arrive at the installation folder path setup dialog…
  1. **it’s vitally important to make sure you install to c:\ldt2004 (not Program Files (x86)\Autodesk Land Desktop 2004)**.
3. While installing…
  1. If you see an error in install “.NET Runtime Optimization Service has stopped working” – simply ignore by clicking the “Close Program” button
  2. Do not reboot if asked to do so
4. Once installed
  1. Do not reboot if asked to do so
  2. Make sure to fully close the setup program when the installation is complete.
  3. Back in the Converter app and make sure it’s completed the final stage of processing using the “Old AutoCAD Program Reviver” tab
Finally, reboot your PC and run your AutoCAD as normal
1. NOTE: When starting AutoCAD, if you see a warning dialog when you run saying “This program has known compatibility issues”
  1. Click “Don’t show this message again”
  2. then click “Run the Program…”

4. Read and understand all the prompts that appear, then continue by clicking OK.
Once your Omni Page 15 setup screen appears, install as normal except:

2. now carry on and install as normal

If you are a seasoned AutoCAD LT 2002 user, no doubt you will at some point have run into the famous GEDIT 3 error and been very frustrated with it. That error occurs because of certain video card drivers and/or certain types of anti-virus software setups.

On Windows 10, Windows 7 and Windows 8, the GEDIT 3 error is even more prominent because of all the new security features that are inside of Windows 7 and 8. The good news is that it’s totally possible to eradicate the GEDIT 3 error by follow the instructions below.

Go back into the Converter
1. select the 3rd tab named “Old AutoCAD Program Reviver”
2. Using the “. . .” button, select the c:\Autodesk\sp folder
3. click “Fix Old Program“.

1. 1. Now Install the LT 2002 sp1 by running c:\Autodesk\sp\acad2002LTsp1.exe
    1. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you get a 114 error, contact Longbow Software Support to get them to fix it for you.
  2. Next, install the LT 2002 sp2 by running either the unlocked c:\Autodesk\sp\acltk044-k047unl.exe or the locked c:\Autodesk\sp\acltk044-k047swl.exe
    1. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you get a 114 error, contact Longbow Software Support to get them to fix it for you.
Finally, reboot your PC and run AutoCAD as normal.

If you cannot install your AutoCAD LT 2002 Service Packs because of an error “114: Autocad LT 2002 update was not applied” – rather than try and solve this issue, the easiest solution is:
1. To go back to your old Windows XP machine and make sure that all of the sp’s are installed on your old Windows XP machine’s installation of AutoCAD LT 2002
2. Next, simply copy all of the AutoCAD LT 2002 program files and folders from your old Windows XP machine to a USB drive – copy the “contents” of C:\Program Files\AutoCAD LT 2002
3. Now transfer the USB to your new machine and copy the files that were on your old Windows XP machine’s C:\Program Files\AutoCAD LT 2002 folder into your newly installed c:\acadlt2002 folder – you should see a question if you should overwrite all files, say YES

A quick word of advice: best to follow the instructions below precisely and to the letter, including folder names and paths, that way you will reduce the risk of having any problems…

Obtain your copy of the Longbow Reviver tool here – you need version 4.10 or newer
Using Windows Explorer, copy your entire Adobe Illustrator 10 install CD media to your hard drive, to a folder path c:\InstallCDs\Adobe\Illustrator10
Start the Longbow Reviver tool, select the 1st tab “Old Installer Reviver“, then using the ‘…’ button pick the c:\InstallCDs\Adobe\Illustrator10\Adobe Illustrator 10.0.3 folder
1. Now click the ‘Fix and Run Old Installer’ button

Old versions of AutoCAD were not designed to run in newer versions of Windows and you will find that installing them as you always did before will encounter lots of issues, even failing while installing too.

The Longbow Converter app allows old versions of AutoCAD to be installed on new versions of Windows, removing all known compatibility issues automatically for you.

Windows 16bit setup error – This app can’t run on your PC

Unfortunately, WordPerfect 6 is a pure 16bit application which means that it cannot be run on 64bit Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10.

However, it can only run on *32bit* Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10 using the Longbow Reviver app.

Install Word Perfect 6 on Windows

Obtain your copy of the Longbow Reviver tool here – you need version 4.10 or newer
Using Windows Explorer, copy your entire WordPerfect 6 install CD media to your hard drive, to a folder path c:\InstallCDs\WordPerfect6
Start the Longbow Reviver tool
1. select the 1st tab named “Old Installer Reviver“
2. then using the ‘…’ button pick the c:\InstallCDs\WordPerfect6\INSTPROG folder

Your 64bit AutoCAD Civil3d 2013 was never designed to run in Windows 10 (this version of Windows is newer than AutoCAD 2013). In order for your AutoCAD Civil3d 2013 to run as it did in previous versions of Windows, you need to follow these easy steps…

Install 64bit AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009

Make sure all previous installed versions of AutoCAD 2009 are uninstalled first.
Obtain your copy of the Longbow Converter here
Start the Converter tool
1. Pick the 1st tab named “AutoCAD 32bit Installer Converter“
2. Using your mouse, right click the tab text “AutoCAD 32bit Installer Converter” so that it changes to “AutoCAD 64bit Installer Converter“
3. Next, using the “…” button, select your AutoCAD installation CD and follow the instructions presented by the Converter tool user interface.
Once the conversion process is complete
1. click Install/Run Setup to start setup
2. Simply install as normal, remembering to…

First, you need to purchase a copy of the Longbow Reviver tool here (you need V4.21 or later)
Using Windows Explorer, backup your entire Microsoft Money 2000 installation CD to your hard drive, to a folder path c:\InstallCDs\Microsoft Money 2000
Start the Longbow Reviver tool
1. select the 1st tab “Old Installer Reviver“
2. then using the ‘…’ button pick the c:\InstallCDs\Microsoft Money 2000 folder
  Selecting the Microsoft Money 2000 CD on Disk
3. Now click the ‘Fix and Run Old Installer’ button
4. Read and understand all the prompts that appear, then continue by clicking OK.

You can automatically solve these problems using our Longbow Converter App, it fixes and manages the AutoCAD LT 2014 installation so that you can be up and running again… Just follow these easy instructions:

How to install 64bit AutoCAD LT 2014

First, uninstall any existing AutoCAD LT 2014 installations on your computer
Next, obtain the Longbow Converter App (V11.15 or higher), download here
Start the Converter tool
1. Pick the 1st tab named “AutoCAD 32bit Installer Converter“
2. Using your mouse, right-click the tab text “AutoCAD 32bit Installer Converter” so that it changes to “AutoCAD 64bit Installer Converter“

Start the Longbow Reviver tool
1. select the 1st tab “Old Installer Reviver“

3. Now click the ‘Fix and Run Old Installer’ button

  1. The tool will now start initializing the setup interface, and may take up to 45 minutes to start. Please be patient…

Installing AutoCAD Mechanical 2010 (MDT 2010) 32bit on Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 64bit can be very easily defined in these short steps…

NOTE: These steps do not bypass normal Autodesk licensing/authorization, you should expect to use your own serial numbers in the normal way.

Obtain your copy of the Longbow Converter here
If you have CDs (if not check (3) below):
1. Insert your AutoCAD MDT 2010 CD into your CDRom drive, cancel setup if it starts
2. Next, start the Converter App
3. Select the 1st tab in the Converter tool named “32bit AutoCAD Installer Converter“
4. Using the “…” button pick the path to your AutoCAD MDT 2013 CD
5. Now click the “Convert” button and follow the instructions.
6. (Skip to step 4)
If you have a single self extracting exe downloaded from Autodesk called something like AutoCAD_Mech_2010_English_Win_32bit.exe
1. Simply run the exe, it will ask to unzip to a folder inside of c:\Autodesk, make a note of the folder for later use (we’ll refer to it from here as c:\Autodesk\MDT2010), now click OK.
2. Wait until all of the files have extracted, when they do, the AutoCAD MDT 2013 setup will automatically launch – simply close it and move to the next step.
3. Now, start the Longbow Converter tool
4. select the 1st tab titled “AutoCAD 32bit Installer Converter“
5. pick the c:\Autodesk\MDT2010 folder
6. and click the “Convert…” button.
Once the conversion process is complete, click the “Install/Run Setup” button to start setup.
1. Install as normal!
Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 users: Once the installation process is complete, go back to the Converter
1. select the 3rd tab named “Old AutoCAD Program Reviver“
2. pick the newly installed C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk\AutoCAD Mechanical 2010 folder
3. then click “Fix Old Program”

Installing Autodesk Land Desktop 2006 on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10

Installing AutoCAD LDT 2006 on Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 32bit or 64bit can be very easily defined in these short steps…

IMPORTANT NOTE: Autodesk no longer supply License Activation codes for this version of AutoCAD. The best way is to transfer your existing license to the new PC but there are other options, we document them here

Obtain your copy of the Longbow Converter here
Start In the Converter tool
1. Next, click the File menu’s “Backup CD to Disk”
2. Follow the prompts
Once the backup is completed
1. click the Run Old Installer button… Read and understand all the prompts before pressing OK.
2. Once the setup starts, stop and read the next step…
In the setup program, navigate through each setup dialog as normal, with these exceptions… (if you cannot move past the first screen in the setup, see Trouble Shooting below)…
1. When you click the Install link from your setup you may see a dialog box appear saying – “This program has compatibility issues” – simply check the “Don’t show this message again” and then click the “Run the program without getting help”.
2. When you arrive at the installation folder path setup dialog, **it’s vitally important to make sure you install to c:\ldt2006 (not C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk Land Desktop 2006 that is defaulted)**.
3. If asked to reboot after the install, say NO
Once installed, do not reboot, make sure you fully close the AutoCAD setup program (because the Converter is waiting for the setup program to fully close) then go back to the Converter tool, select the 3rd tab, pick the newly installed c:\ldt2006 folder and click the Fix Old Program button.
Now you can run your Autodesk LDT 2006 on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10, both 32bit and 64bit.
1. NOTE: When starting AutoCAD, if you see a warning dialog when you run saying “This program has known compatibility issues“, simply click “Don’t show this message again” and then click “Run the Program…“

Troubleshooting:

– If you are unable to activate your product, or the activation process crashes immediately on startup:

Try uninstalling the July 2014 Microsoft security update
Try downgrading your Internet Explorer (IE) from version 11 to version 10 by following the instructions detailed here

2. Using the “. . .” button, pick your MDT 5 CD, and click Run and follow the Converter’s instructions.
3. Once the MDT 5 setup starts, stop and read the next step…
In the setup program, navigate through each setup dialog as normal, except when you get to the installation folder, **it’s vitally important to make sure you install to c:\mdt2000i (not Program Files (x86)\Mechanical Desktop 5 as usually prompted by default)**
Once installed, go back to the Converter tool
1. select the 3rd tab named “Old AutoCAD Program Reviver”
2. Using the ‘. . .’ button
  1. pick the newly installed c:\mdt2000i folder
  2. click “Fix Old Program“.
Now, you can happily run your MDT 5 on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10

“This operating system is not supported by AutoCAD Mechanical® 2009”
“You cannot install this product on the current operating system”
“You are attempting to use a 32-bit installer on a 64-bit operating system”
“This is a 32-bit AutoCAD Mechanical® 2009. It cannot be installed on 64-bit Windows”

Installing AutoCAD Mechanical 2009 (MDT 2009) 32bit on Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 64bit can be very easily defined in these short steps…

NOTE: These steps do not bypass normal Autodesk licensing/authorization, you should expect to use your own serial numbers in the normal way.

Obtain your copy of the Longbow Converter here
If you have CDs (if not check (3) below):
1. Insert your AutoCAD MDT 2009 CD into your CDRom drive, cancel setup if it starts
2. Next, start the Converter App
3. Select the 1st tab in the Converter tool named “32bit AutoCAD Installer Converter“
4. Using the “…” button pick the path to your AutoCAD MDT 2013 CD
5. Now click the “Convert” button and follow the instructions.
6. (Skip to step 4)
If you have a single self extracting exe downloaded from Autodesk called something like AutoCAD_Mech_2009_English_Win_32bit.exe
1. Simply run the exe, it will ask to unzip to a folder inside of c:\Autodesk, make a note of the folder for later use (we’ll refer to it from here as c:\Autodesk\MDT2009), now click OK.
2. Wait until all of the files have extracted, when they do, the AutoCAD MDT 2013 setup will automatically launch – simply close it and move to the next step.
3. Now, start the Longbow Converter tool
4. select the 1st tab titled “AutoCAD 32bit Installer Converter“
5. pick the c:\Autodesk\MDT2009 folder
6. and click the “Convert…” button.
Once the conversion process is complete, click the “Install/Run Setup” button to start setup.
1. Install as normal!
Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 users: Once the installation process is complete, go back to the Converter
1. select the 3rd tab named “Old AutoCAD Program Reviver“
2. pick the newly installed C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk\AutoCAD Mechanical 2009 folder
3. then click “Fix Old Program”
Now you can happily run your AutoCAD MDT 2009 32bit on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10!

Installing AutoCAD MDT 2009 Service Pack 3

Here’s sp3 – AutoCAD Mechanical 2009 sp3 – install as normal

Installing 64bit AutoCAD 2015 on Windows 10 64bit

AutoCAD 2015 was not designed to run in the latest releases of Windows 10 and inevitably you will run into issues such as the infamous Ribbon crashing issue, slow startup problems, text scaling issues, etc.

You can automatically solve these problems using our Longbow Converter App, it fixes and manages the AutoCAD 2015 installation so that you can be up and running again… Just follow these easy instructions:

How to install 64bit AutoCAD 2015

First, uninstall any existing AutoCAD 2015 installations on your computer
Next, obtain the Longbow Converter App (V11.15 or higher), download here
Start the Converter tool
1. Pick the 1st tab named “AutoCAD 32bit Installer Converter“
2. Using your mouse, right-click the tab text “AutoCAD 32bit Installer Converter” so that it changes to “AutoCAD 64bit Installer Converter“
3. Next, using the “. . .“ button, select your AutoCAD installation CD and follow the instructions presented by the Converter tool user interface.
Once the conversion process is complete
1. click Install/Run Setup to start setup
2. Once you have completed the AutoCAD installation process…
  1. Completely close the setup program
  2. Go back to the Converter App and make sure it states “Success!“
Now you can run your AutoCAD as normal

Troubleshooting:

Installing 64bit AutoCAD 2014 on Windows 10 64bit

Run Adobe Acrobat X plugin in 32bit AutoCAD on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 64bit

The Adobe Acrobat X plugin for AutoCAD only runs on 32bit AutoCAD, and 32bit AutoCAD only runs on 32bit Windows. This means that you will be stuck if you require the Adobe Acrobat X plugin for AutoCAD and move to newer hardware with 64bit Windows.

Installing Corel Print House Magic on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10

Installing Corel Print House Magic on WIndows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 (both 32bit and 64bit) can be very easily defined in these short steps…

First, you need to purchase a copy of the Longbow Reviver tool here
Using Windows Explorer, copy your entire Corel Print House Magic installation CD to your hard drive, to a folder path c:\InstallCDs\CorelPrintHouseMagic
Start the Longbow Reviver tool
1. select the 1st tab “Old Installer Reviver“
2. then using the ‘…’ button pick the c:\InstallCDs\CorelPrintHouseMagic folder
3. Now click the ‘Fix and Run Old Installer’ button
4. Read and understand all the prompts that appear, then continue by clicking OK.
5. Install Corel Print House Magic as normal
6. Do not reboot if prompted to do so
Now Corel Print House Magic is installed
1. Make sure the Corel Print House Magic setup is completely closed, then in the Longbow Reviver tool…
2. Select the 2nd tab “Old Program Reviver“
3. Using the ‘…’ button, pick the newly installed c:\Coral folder
4. and click ‘Fix Old Program’
5. Say ‘No’ if the Reviver tool asks if you want to re-register…
Now you can happily run your Corel Print House Magic on Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10!

Installing Borland Delphi 3.0 on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10

If you are trying to install Borland Delphi 3 on Windows 7, 8 or Windows 10 64bit you are probably running into one of these problems…

This app can’t run on your PC. To find a version that runs with your PC check with the publisher.

Unsupported 16-bit Application – the program or feature cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows

Luckily, the Longbow Reviver tool can solve this, here’s what you need to do:

Obtain your copy of the Longbow Reviver tool here
Backup your Borland Delphi 3 CD to your Desktop, in a “Delphi 3” folder
Next, start the Longbow Reviver tool and select the “Old Installer Reviver” tab
1. Using the “…” button select the path to the Desktop\Delphi 3\install folder…
  Selecting the Backup Copy of the Delphi 3 CD on your hard drive
2. Once you have that selected, click OK and then pick the “Fix and Run Old Installer” button.
3. Now, be patient, the process for initializing the Delphi 3 setup may take over an hour…
  1. Look out for a folder called _ISTMP0.DIR being created in the install folder, if it’s not there in an hour, restart your computer and try again…
  2. The _ISTMP0.DIR should slowly fill with about 21 files before the setup appears.
Once your Delphi 3 setup appears
1. step through the setup dialogs as normal until you get to the “Select Directories” dialog
2. Here, make sure you change the Root folder to c:\Borland (instead of c:\Program Files (x86)\Borland)
  
  e.g.
  
  $Update the Borland Root pathto c:\Borland$
  Update the Borland Root pathto c:\Borland
3. Make sure they are setup like this…
  Updated the Borland Root path
4. Now carry on and install as normal until complete
5. Be patient, it takes a while to complete…
Once the install is complete
1. make sure the Delphi 3 setup is shutdown.
2. Go back to the Reviver tool and select the 2nd tab named “Old Program Reviver“
3. Using the ‘…’ button, pick the newly installed c:\Borland folder
4. Then pick the “Run Old Program” button
Now your Delphi 3 should be up and running…

Installing AutoCAD R14 Express Tools Volume 6 on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10

If you are having trouble installing AutoCAD R14 Express Tools with “This app cannot run on your PC” then read on…

Installing AutoCAD R14 Express Tools Volume 6 (et1-6.exe) on Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 32bit or 64bit can be very easily defined in these short steps.

A quick word of advice: best to follow the instructions below precisely and to the letter, including folder names and paths, that way you will reduce the risk of having any problems…

Obtain your copy of the Longbow Converter here
Next, make sure you have AutoCAD R14 already installed – follow these steps Installing AutoCAD R14 on Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10
Unzip this zip to c:\Autodesk
Start the Longbow Converter tool
1. select the 2nd tab named “Old AutoCAD Installer Reviver“,
2. pick the newly created c:\Autodesk\Express Tools R14 Volume 6 folder
3. now click the “Run Old installer” button.
4. Read and understand all the prompts before pressing OK.
Now, I know it’s unheard of these days, but at this point expect to wait up to 45 minutes for your AutoCAD R14 Express Tools setup.exe program to fully appear. Once the setup starts, stop and read the next step…
In the setup program, navigate through each setup dialog as normal, except when you get to the installation folder, **it’s vitally important to make sure you install to c:\acadR14 (not Program Files (x86)\AutoCAD Express Tools as usually prompted)**
1. Do not reboot if prompted to do so
Now you can happily run your Express Tools inside of AutoCAD R14 running on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 – using Windows Explorer, simply navigate to c:\acadr14 and double click acad.exe to start AutoCAD R14 and to use Express Tools R14

Troubleshooting:

If your Express Tools R14 setup is not starting after 45 minutes, try rebooting, then restart the steps above. If it is still failing, most likely it’s because of another application on your system which is preventing our setup routine from starting (perhaps anti-virus, or similar) – try the same steps as above in Windows Safe Mode
